Kilimanjaro National Park

Kilimanjaro National Park is located in northern Tanzania and is home to Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, standing at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level. The park covers an area of about 1,688 square kilometers and surrounds the mountain’s slopes, from the montane forest zone to the alpine desert and icy summit.

The main attraction is trekking to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, which can be done through several routes including Marangu, Machame, Lemosho, Rongai, and others. These routes offer different scenery, difficulty levels, and durations, attracting hikers from around the world.

Kilimanjaro’s ecological zones range from tropical rainforests and moorlands to glaciers at the peak, providing diverse habitats for animals and plants. Wildlife such as blue monkeys, colobus monkeys, bushbucks, and a variety of bird species can be seen, especially in the lower forested areas.

Kilimanjaro National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of adventure and achievement. It can be accessed easily from Moshi or Arusha and is a major highlight of Tanzania’s northern tourism circuit.
