Gombe National Park

Gombe National Park is a small but famous park located in western Tanzania along the shores of Lake Tanganyika. It is best known for its population of wild chimpanzees and the groundbreaking research conducted by Dr. Jane Goodall since the 1960s. The park covers an area of about 52 square kilometers and is characterized by steep valleys, lush forest, and beautiful lake views.

Gombe is home to various primates including chimpanzees, olive baboons, red-tailed monkeys, and vervet monkeys. The park also hosts a wide range of bird species, forest animals, and aquatic life along the lake. Visitors to Gombe typically engage in guided chimpanzee tracking, hiking, birdwatching, and swimming or snorkeling in Lake Tanganyika.

Access to the park is mainly by boat from the nearby town of Kigoma. Due to its remote and natural setting, Gombe offers an intimate and unforgettable wildlife experience, especially for those interested in primates and nature conservation.
