Here’s a good professional itinerary for a 7-day trek on the Marangu Route:

Tour Plan

Day 1: Transfer from place of stay to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate
  • Hike for 4-5hours through the rainforest to Mandara Hut (2,700m) for your overnight stay.
Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Huts
  • Hike through the montane forest and moorland to Horombo Huts (3,720m)
  • Enjoy stunning views of Kibo Crater and the surrounding glaciers.
  • Acclimatization hike in the afternoon to prepare for higher altitudes.
Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Huts
  • Rest and relax at Horombo Huts.
  • Optional acclimatization hike to Mawenzi Tarn (4,300m) for further altitude adjustment
Day 4: Horombo Huts to Kibo Hut
  • Hike through the alpine desert to Kibo Hut (4,700m
  • The terrain becomes more challenging with steeper sections and loose scre
  • Early dinner and rest for the summit push the next day.
Day 5: Summit Day - Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak and descent to Horombo Huts
  • Start the summit climb at midnight to reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m) for sunrise

  • Descend back to Kibo Hut and then Horombo Huts for overnight stay.
Day 6: Horombo Huts to Marangu Gate
